At its core counselling is a searching human relationship where you and the counsellor are committed to finding responses to your present difficulties and needs. Counselling incorporates the giving of time, attention and respect in a confidential relationship. Counselling is an on going Process, pre-packaged solutions are not given. Often, it takes time and perseverance to discover and to clarify more resourceful ways of living. To understand your Past, to become aware of your behaviours, to learn about who You are and to appreciate your Story are all necessary to live a happier life.
I offer a professional service to clients be it individuals, couples, young adults, recovery in addiction, recovery in co-dependency and I am an Accredited Member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My service offers an impartial relationship in which my clients can explore specific issues and develop more satisfying and resourceful ways of living. Confidentiality is a vital basis for my work and respecting the clients values, personal resources and capacity of self determination is assessed.
My theoretical approach would be humanistic but my experience has shown me that depending on the client this approach will be integrated with Gestalt, Reality Therapy, Cognitive behaviour, Existentialism and Twelve Step Addiction Framework.
I work to the 'Code of Ethics' of Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am Fully Accredited.
I provide Supervision which is a formal mutually agreed arrangement within which the Counsellor supervisee discusses work regularly with Supervisor. The term 'supervision' encompasses a number of functions concerned with monitoring, educating, developing and supporting individuals in their counselling/therapy work.
